We are almost ready to move in. Finally! When we pay our rent on the 1st of next month, we will also give our 30 day notice. It will not take us thirty days to move out but it is only proper to give the landlord notice. Besides, it will take us a while to get the place cleaned up before we can turn it over to the landlord. We are hoping to get our deposit back but if not I will not feel so bad about it, after all the landlord was good enough to let us move in when we desperately needed a place to stay even if he did not feel the house was ready enough for us to move in. So it will be a busy month for us next month. Some of our belongings are already in the new house, those that we do not use regularly and are still mostly in boxes from our previous move. Our house still need a lot of work done but mostly finishing touches. We will really be relieved once we move in because that means no more rent. That should save us a few hundred dollars since we do not have a mortgage either. We are so blessed and we are thankful for it.

floors down, finally!

And the floor is finally down. It took weeks of work and tons of patience but it finally happened. The whole kitchen and the kids’ rooms have laminate wood floors which I so love. The trims on the doors and closets are almost finished, while the baseboards are going to be put down soon. We can actually stay in the house for days at a time if we want to, or better yet move in. But the husband said some things need to be done before he will want us to move in. It seems like he is not in a hurry anymore but I trust his judgment so we will wait which means I will have to exercise more patience. The yard looks good too after his son mowed it and got things in order outside. I cannot wait to move in but I was told to wait so wait I will. Yay for floors though, lol. I am so happy that things are slowly moving forward.

a little at a time

Okay, so one of the bathrooms and the utility room are finished. One of the kids’ bedroom is finished while the other only needs a closet door. The husband who chose the color for the wall said that he thinks it is too dark after the two bedrooms and bathroom were painted so we might use a lighter shade of paint for the rest of the house. That will leave us with three different color tone since the utility room is of a darker shade than the kids’ bedrooms. I personally like the colors we have on the walls but he said he wants it lighter so that is what it will be. The next couple of days will be spent painting the living the room and kitchen walls. After that, the laminate floor should be down which means it is only a matter of time and we will be moving. Like I have told the husband, it does not bother me to move in an unfinished house because I can adjust and the kids do not mind either as long as I am around. So if he is fine with that, we will be moving even if the master bedroom is not yet finished. If it means we have to sleep in one of the kids’ room then so be it. At least we will not be paying rent anymore. I am almost ready to pack our stuff, I am just waiting for the husband’s signal.

move-in date is moved

It is already February yet our plan to move in to our house is not happening. There were things that hindered our target move-in date and so we moved it. The husband joked that the rate it is going it will be July of next year before we can move in but I am hoping next month. We do not know when specifically and he does not want to set any date anymore so as not to be disappointed so we will move when the house is ready. I still think it will be ready enough by next month. Hopefully. It is awful to think that we have a house that is paid for yet we are paying rent every month that we are not in it but there are things that we cannot control nor rush. It all goes back to waiting and being patient. A little prayer helps too.

move in date

The husband has a target for us to move to the new house in February. I hope that will happen. I don’t mind living in a house that is not completely finished as long as I have a bedroom, a functioning bathroom, and a kitchen to work on. I don’t mind people coming over to finish work either because I know the husband will be there and his sister will be present too. And as long as there is something to keep the kids (especially my little boy) occupied we should be out of everybody’s hair. The reason I am willing to move in even if the house is not completely finished is to save money. We are paying rent now plus bills on utilities on both houses which is not really practical. It is a lot of expenses which can be cut in half by moving in early. So I am hoping we will be able to move in by February. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

For a long time, we have had problems having water and electric in the property we bought. An inspection has to be done before the electric company will turn our electric on but the county planning and zoning will not issue a permit because of a building violation that was done by the previous owners. We had to hire workers to do the job and when it was done and corrected was when we got the permit and had somebody inspect the house. We have had electric for two weeks now but we just had water today. We paid to have a new service put in a week ago and was told to wait 3-4 weeks but for some reason they came weeks early and hooked up our water. That is something to be really grateful for because then the work should start speeding up now that the basic utilities are in place. I am so looking forward for the house to get finished so we can move in. The drive from home to the new house is long and expensive what with gas over three dollars a gallon. We need to move in already. I hope that work will pick up a bit and that the hired workers will do their jobs quickly but efficiently.

we found our dream house

And we will be moving in it early next year. The reason being there are still little things that need to be straightened out about the property and appointments we need to keep using our current address. The husband and I are excited and have been making plans as to what appliance goes where inside the house. I have visualized our furniture on the new house and thankfully he is fine with my plan. He knows I will b*tch if things don’t go my way, lol. I just want to make sure that we have room for our stuff so we can get rid of what we don’t need. We agree that we don’t like clutter in the house. We dislike cramped spaces especially with kids around, we want them to be able to roam free inside the house without crashing into anything. So, we are both looking forward to the move even if the little man isn’t. He said where we are at now is home. He has been to our new house and even said he likes it but he said it is not home. Well, he is right. It is not home, not yet anyway. It will be next year though

passport application

My parents applied for their Philippine passports this month. With longer processing times the passports will not be released until December. I know it is two months away but I am still glad because if you know my parents, this is a very big achievement. Lol. It took me a long time to convince them to apply for passports. For some reason, they were embarrassed to do so which was ridiculous especially when they told me the silly reasons. It was only now that I have become a naturalized US citizen that they agreed to apply for their passports. It took months to procure the necessary documents for the application but they did get everything the agency needed and so they are awaiting for the day to pick up their passports. A lot of people will have heard about what they did and I am sure there will be talks and rumors and intrigues but I told them to not be bothered by any of it. Some people sometimes just get jealous and make up stories and sometimes make fun of others. It is a sad fact of life. Anyway, even if I do have plans of petitioning them it is not going to happen yet. My family has to be financially stable here before we can go through another immigration process again because it is a big responsibility thus needs more time and planning. I am currently content for what was done and am grateful that the passport application went through without a glitch.

It is the first time I have used it for any blog post and I think this is better than my smartphone when it comes to ease of typing and viewing as well. I might use this again when I need to, like when we are not home or when my laptop is unavailable. I still have to figure out how to work some features here but I have plenty of time to do that
