i do not know..

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

what to do with the eggplants I harvested from my little garden. I planted a few thinking I will have enough to cook and keep but there is more produce than I thought and now I do not know what to do with them. I harvested probably about 10 lbs of eggplant last week which I still have some leftovers lying in the kitchen floor. And when I checked on the garden it need to be harvested again or the fruits will be mature. A few friends showed interest but they live hours away and we do not have any plans on going anywhere in the next few days. They could come and pick up whatever they want but nobody has said a word. If only I could mail the produce to my friends it will be dandy.

sweet corn

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

The husband came home with a bag of corn fresh from the garden. Apparently, the few rows of corn that I planted weeks ago did good and are ready to be taken in. He already gave some to his aunt and offered the cousins to get what they want but there are still more left. He said he hates to let the corn go to waste so he brought a bag home for me to clean and blanch and then freeze. I am done taking the husks off the corn but I still have to do the blanching. I hate hard work but I love corn so I will have to do this before the corn gets bad. At least this will guarantee free corn in the winter. Maybe will pressure cook a few corn on the cob for our snacks later. Nothing better than garden fresh corn.

my chance to stay at the Hampton for free

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Hampton Hotels. All opinions are 100% mine.

Whenever we go on trips, we always stay on chain hotels because we feel secure that we know the name of the place we are staying in. It is true we pay more for the service sometimes but if it is something we have to do to sleep better at night then it is worth it. Our favorite is the Hampton. The husband always find an exit where there is a Hampton hotel regardless of distance. He loves their service and the fact that they serve breakfast because he hates to wake up early and rush to get us something to eat especially since I am always hungry. If we stay at the Hampton we only have to get up and grab our breakfast and then go back to our room to relax some more. We prefer it that way. Their high speed internet is a big bonus as well. We are planning to go to another city when we have enough saved up because he said he wants to show me the place. So I look up if there is Hampton hotel in the area and sure enough there is. And I also found out that they are running a contest called Hampton Chain of Friends Sweepstakes. The grand prize winner receives a free stay for himself and 100 of his friends at a Hampton for one weekend and $5,000 to help pay the tax for the weekend. The contest is open for everyone so a lot of people have a chance of winning in this contest. I might as well join. Should I win I will invite the husband’s relatives and a few of my friends and we will enjoy ourselves silly. I wonder if I can choose the location of the hotel I want to stay in? It will be fun if I can stay for free, plus relatives, at that city where we want to go. We could explore the place together. The more there are of us, the merrier the trip will be. Well, I better get off here so I can put in my entry. Who knows I might win. It will be a grand day. Aren’t you going to join too?

in need of a nap

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

I am not feeling good today. I am so tired for some reason but although all I want is to go to bed early, I still have things to do and a little boy to take care of so bed time will just have to wait. I have been feeling sluggish lately that just looking at the ever energetic little man drains whatever is left of mine. The husband is not helping any because instead of letting me take a nap he keeps on calling for me and asking for my help. So here I am still up and trying to stay awake. I am giving them thirty minutes more and we should all go to bed whether one likes it or not. Let’s hope there will be no complaints later.

our son loved it

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

When the little man was born, we planned to breast-feed him. Things did not work out as planned so we had to give him formula. Since we did not expect to use formula it was hard to decide what brand to get him. We started out with an expensive brand (because I thought expensive should be better) but he had problems like indigestion and reflux. We tried the next brand and he had sores in his butt after that. The husband who gave me free reign the first time told me we should try something affordable so if the little man does not like it, it will not be too much of and expense. When he bought Parent’s Choice formula I was apprehensive. I was like, if the expensive ones did not work there is no way this “cheap” can will. What do I know, the little man loved it. Had I known he will like it, I should have bought Parent’s Choice in the first place. We used it since he was a month old then switched to Parent’s Choice formula for older babies and only stopped using it a few months after he turned two. It took a long time but it was a choice made by the husband and me. And the little man as well. It had been awhile since the last time I bought a can that I did not know until recently that they have a new can design and instead of Parent’s Choice it is now called Bright Beginnings. It will probably take me some time to get used to it because I am used to seeing the old design for over two years but so long as the quality of milk in that formula is the same, I will still buy it. Especially since I am going to have another baby. This time though, instead of going to the store and risk not finding a can (they ran out several times) I will definitely order several cans at a time so I will have it when the new baby needs it. It is always better to be safe than sorry. What about you? What do you buy for your baby’s formula? Have you tried Bright Beginnings yet? Your baby might just like it. And you probably will too since it is affordable. You should check Bright Beginnings available at diapers.com if you think your baby needs something better. I am grateful for that day when the husband decided to take over. We have saved a lot of money on formula since then.

to cook or not to cook?

Monday, July 5th, 2010

I have squid that is thawing in the fridge right now. When I got it out of the freezer earlier, I wanted to cook some because I know I will be hungry and it is always nice to have prepared food so I only have to heat it up. But it is still thawing (probably is totally thawed by now) and I am not sure if I want to cook it anymore. Not tonight anyway. I wonder if it will still be good tomorrow. I would hate to have it go to waste knowing I spent a lot of money just to buy a whole box from the Asian store. The husband will not be happy if I let food go to waste just like that. I guess I have to get up and cook the thing and get it over with. Hays, I wish I have a helper to do things for me. No such luck so I have to do things on my own.
